I never had any desire to go to Florida. It just never appealed to me in any way. It appeared to be a place that in my head catered to the more senior population and that translated to a not fun or thrilling occasion. So when my partner said he wanted to go to Florida for about three weeks I wasn’t really jumping over the moon to visit, but I thought I would make the best of it and have a great time. I realized i was in for a big surprise.
A trip to Florida is great; more specifically Key West is amazing. Key West was not what I expected it to be at all. The rental we stayed in was so lovely and the individuals that worked there were amazingly wonderful and helpful. They steered us to some terrific places to eat and even better pubs. On the subject of bars, we went out and experienced the Duval crawl. In the event you don’t know what that is don’t worry I didn’t either, but when you think about it, it is pretty self-explanatory. Duval Street is where the best pubs in Key West are located and the crawl part is simply because if you visit all of them you’re going to be crawling back to your holiday rental. We had an incredible time.
There is live music in just about every pub, and not the live music that’s only good after you have had a few shots, the groups playing were actually quite great. The people you meet in my view are the best element. Everyone was super friendly and social. I never once felt awkward or like We didn’t belong. I’m only twenty-seven and I was talking to people two times my age and older and I loved every minute of it. We went to a really excellent bar which has been a staple of Key West for ages known as Sloppy Joes, and I would say it is one of the better pubs That i’ve ever visited.
The worst part about the whole Duval crawl experience is probably the morning after, however it’s so worth it. I had a fairly easy time recovering. Our Key West vacation lodging had a swimming pool so I just made myself a mimosa and sat by the pool until the time had come to do it once again.
People that go to Key West want to have a good time and let their hair down. I’d definitely suggest don’t go if you want to just have tranquility and read a novel, which you could do, but you will be totally wasting the experience.
