Terrazzo flooring

Terrazzo flooring is made from a combination of stone, glass, metal mother of pearl pieces embedded in cement or resin.

One of the advantages of terrazzo flooring is its durability. It is very dense and suitable for use in areas that receive lots of traffic such as shopping centres, Airports, Supermarkets and feature areas in tiled floors. This type of flooring should last a lifetime if it is properly maintained.

Speaking of maintenance, another advantage of terrazzo flooring is that it is very easy to maintain. You simply have to sweep up the floor often to remove dust that can act as an abrasive (commercial buildings needs a cleaning and maintenance program). It’s important not to use abrasive cleaners because you may cause damage to your floor.

As mentioned earlier, terrazzo flooring is very dense. As long as you seal it, water shouldn’t be able to penetrate it. This also helps keep the floor from harboring bacteria which makes it useful for those who suffer from allergies.

Terrazzo flooring is constructed out of all natural materials including sand, marble, and other types of stone. You can even recycle this type of floor and this is why it bacame one of the most popular polished concrete solutions.

Terrazzo is a hand crafted floor (like epoxy flooring) and requires very experienced and trained workers to achieve and deliver true terrazzo floor, Floorworks have been installing in situ Terrazzo for the last 10 years and are involved, in conjunction with Nuplex’s in situ Terrazzo called Terrazzite ZV (Zero VOC’s).
