Do you need A Great Get-A-Way

I’ve always been pretty adventurous. From the clothes that I buy, to the foods I eat and definitely the places I choose to vacation. I went on Expedia and found the answer to my latest desire to visit somewhere new; Singapore. Singapore travel is more than you expected and less than you probably think you’d pay, especially if you take advantage of Expedia coupons.

Details of My Vacation
I wanted to see for myself what a Chinese New Year would be like if I was amongst the Chinese people. I worked with Expedia to plan my trip and once I arrived, it was like nothing I ever imagined. The celebrations are running from January the 3rd until the 15th of February. I traveled to the Chinatown neighborhood and had a blast watching the colorful dragons and revelers go by.

Although Chinese New Year is celebrated throughout Singapore, it is Chinatown that is the primary spot for most of the celebrations. I hung out with the local residents at the street vendors and took in a few of their nightly entertainment. The celebratory food for the Chinese New Year is yusheng and for those of us that need a translation, raw fish salad. Be sure to check online for more information regarding the celebrations. If you don’t make it this year, what you see will tempt you to book your trip with Expedia for next year. My friends are regularly looking around for a sabbatical savings.

Staying in Town
I made the Furama Riverfront Hotel, Singapore my home base as it was centrally located right in the heart of the city. My accommodations allowed me easy access to Chinatown where I wanted to be and afforded me the opportunity to shop and eat along the business district of Orchard Road. My room was well furnished and I enjoyed amenities such as a private bath with modern fixtures, a mini bar and an important aspect for me, wifi. The beds were about the softest that I have ever slept on in any hotel.

Eating Out
I couldn’t resist the allure of Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie so I treated myself to a incredible dinner of Corn & Crab Chowder to start along with Mushroom Alfredo Spaghetti. I made sure I had plenty of room for my favorite part of any meal, dessert. I chose the Foret Noire or Black Forest with a delicious combination of kirsch Chantilly cream, chocolate ice cream and a dark compote made from cherries. It was Mmm-Mmm good.
