Phuket is Thailand’s largest island, approximately the size of Singapore. The island is connected to mainland Thailand by a bridge. It is situated off the west coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. The region has an area of approximately 570sqm and it’s made up of 1 large and 39 small islands. Phuket formerly derived its wealth from tin and rubber.[citation needed] The island was on one of the major trading routes between India and China, and was frequently mentioned in foreign trader’s ship logs. The region now derives much of its income from tourism.

But actually, this island isn’t just the largest island only. It has so many beautiful places to be visited by many tourists. There are so many beautiful beaches that spread in all over the island. With about 570 square meters, this is definitely the largest island in Thailand. It has 1 big island and 39 small ones around it.

There are so many plantations in Phuket. For about 60 percent of this island is covered by the forest, rubber and palm oil plantations. If you want to visit the kinds of sandy beaches, you must go to the western coast of this island. The eastern coast beaches are muddier. There is a very popular sunset viewing point in this island that called as the Laem Promtep or we could say it as the Brahma’s Cape.

The Patong Beach in the central western is one of the most popular places to be visited in the Phuket. This area has some central shopping area, and surely some nightlife.
