How To Learn German

What is the best way to learn German? There is no single answer to this question. In fact, you have to use various strategies to succeed in learning this language.

One option is to travel to that country and then learn the culture. A lot of students do this by studying there and instead of living in the dorm, stay with a host family. This simulates your experience being with a real family like you do back home. As a result, awkwardness and shyness disappear and you are able to learn the language better.

If you can’t afford to leave the country, try to find someone in the neighborhood who can speak German and pay them to be your tutor. You can also rent German films, buy or borrow audio books from the local library if they have any.

Correct pronunciation is important when you want to learn German because some words may look the same on paper but are different when they are spoken. So make sure you known the difference so you don’t offend anyone.

A course on the German language is probably being offered at the local college so enroll in the program. Since you will have classmates just as interested in the language as you are, form a study group so everyone can practice and learn together in the hopes of becoming conversant later on.

It is good to learn German in Berlin because Berlin is the capital. You can use it the next time you go around the neighborhood when you visit the local shop or restaurant. So don’t you think it is worth learning? During class, you won’t be the only one making mistakes. Your classmates will do so as well so learn from it.

For those who want to learn German one on one, there are many resources you can check out online. Some sites will require you to pay $500 or more for their course while some offer German lessons for free.  This can be burned into a CD or uploaded to your MP3 player so you can practice it wherever you go.

Be aware though that there is only so much you can learn there and if you want to do better, you will have to rely on other resources like buying a dictionary.

A software I can recommend is Rocket German. It can be purchased online and as very good success rates.

Having the dictionary will allow you to learn other words which you have never taken up before. It will make more sense when you are able to put this in a sentence so take note of it. This will enable you to review it if you forget how to say it.

With all the support around you, the only thing you have to do now is practice regularly so you don’t forget what you have learned. It’s not going to be easy to learn German since you are starting from scratch but you will get the hang of it as long as you determined.
